Why Was Madonna Hospitalized?
After being admitted to the hospital over the weekend for a “serious bacterial infection,” Madonna is still recovering, according to PEOPLE.
She has returned home and is feeling better, a source exclusively tells PEOPLE.
Guy Oseary, Madonna’s longtime manager, revealed on his Instagram account on Wednesday that the 64-year-old Queen of Pop had been hospitalized since Saturday due to a major bacterial illness that required a “several-day stay in the ICU.”
On Wednesday, a source informed PEOPLE that the celebrity was “out of the ICU and recovering.”
In his tweet, Oseary also informed supporters that Madonna would have to postpone her professional commitments, which included a tour that was initially set to begin next month.
Oseary said that the tour’s new start date and any rescheduled performances will be shared with fans as soon as they were available. He also stated that Madonna was anticipated to make a “full recovery.”
When Madonna announced her Celebration Tour in January, she told her fans that she wanted to celebrate her career’s 40th anniversary with the upcoming performances and pay homage to the place where she first rose to fame: New York.
In a statement promoting the tour, Madonna said, “I am delighted to explore as many songs as possible in hopes of giving my fans the concert they have been waiting for.
Days before her hospitalization, Madonna gave fans a peek at her new shows, captioning a series of Instagram photos from rehearsals “The Calm Before The Storm……….”
After news broke of her illness, friends and famous fans including Rita Wilson, Zooey Deschanel, Jon Batiste, Evan Rachel Wood, and more offered support on social media.
