Ghanaian musician AB Crentsil passed away at the age of 79. Sound engineer Fred Kyei Mensah, better known by his stage as Fredyma, posted a message on Facebook on July 13, 2022, confirming the famous vocalist’s death.
Rumours suggest that the seasoned vocalist had been ill for some time, even though the cause of AB Crentsil’s death has not yet been established. Since then, the late composer has received a deluge of honours.
AB Junior was the name used for AB Crentsil until his father’s death in 1984. After that, he dropped the junior and used the name AB Crentsil.
Famous and award-winning Ghanaian disc jockey DJ BIBINI also announced his passing on the well-known microblogging platform Twitter.

He was employed as an electrician and playing with Kwesi Donkor’s Strollers Band. In addition, Crentsil has shared the stage with the El Dorados, the Sweet Talks, and most recently, the Ahenfo Band.
Crentsil opened a 16-track recording studio in 1990. “Devil” is one of his best-known songs. Awards offered to Ghana’s top musicians were given to Crentsil as he continued to produce records.
