New trends and challenges emerge on TikTok every week.

At the start of September, a new trend arose called ‘Beaning’, a trick which involves smearing baked beans over someone’s house entrance.

Then, the ‘Devious Lick’ trend emerged, which sees people stealing things from school bathrooms.

Thankfully, as we approach the end of September, we’ve now moved away from the awful prank trends, but the latest challenge isn’t any less bizarre.

It’s called the Wear It Big Challenge, and here’s what it’s all about.

WHAT IS THE WEAR IT BIG CHALLENGE?

TikTok’s new Wear It Big Challenge involves showing off your female body using a big t-shirt.

All you have to do is wear a huge t-shirt that hides your natural shape completely.

Then, when the music hits a certain point, you suddenly pull the t-shirt really tight, showing off your waist and hips.

The trend has actually existed on the app for quite some time now, but it’s suddenly gone viral again in September 2021.

On TikTok, videos with the hashtag #wearitbig have had a huge 220 million views, and it’s quickly becoming one of the month’s biggest challenges.

WHAT IS THE SONG?

Like all TikTok challenges, the trend is set to a particular song.

The track is called Everyday by Vokker & DARROW.

The lyrics say the word “big” over and over again before saying “wear it big” which is where the challenge name comes from.

SO, WHAT IS THE POINT?

With many of these bizarre TikTok challenges, we find ourselves wondering, what is the point? And the answer is… there is no point!

Whilst some TikTok challenges are designed to inform, entertain or make you laugh, others simply have no meaning at all.

Some have argued that the Wear It Big Challenge is a way to express female empowerment, encouraging women to feel confident about showing off their feminine curves.

Others have slammed the challenge for s*xualising and objectifying women on social media.
