Shon Faye is an English writer, journalist, editor, and broadcaster noted for her opinions on LGBTQ+, women’s issues, and mental health.
Faye began her writing career in 2014. Faye’s editing and writing have focused on sexuality, feminism, and mental health.
She is the host of the podcast Call Me Mother. She was an editor-at-large at Dazed, and her writing has appeared in journals such as The Guardian, The Independent, VICE, n+1, Attitude, Verso, and others.
Faye has advocated for trans women’s access to assistance for rape and domestic violence. She stated Amnesty International’s Women Making History event in 2018, supporting the “re-centering” of underprivileged trans women.

In her book, Faye puts out the harsh reality of trans living today in minute detail.
However, she is careful not to portray the trans experience as singularly tragic or brutal, instead emphasizing similarities between the trans experience and that of other oppressed or minority groups.
