Nancy Pelosi had planned a congressional delegation trip to Asia next week. However, all her trips have been postponed for now as the HOR speaker has tested positive for COVID-19.
The Japanese and Taiwanese media had shared the news of Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan. She would have been the first House Speaker to visit Taiwan in over 25 years.

China has warned the US of strong measures and not to visit Taiwan. According to the Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson, China had warned the US to abide by the One-China policy and cancel Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan.
Before Pelosi, Newt Gingrich had visited Taiwan in 1997. Although China has never directly controlled Taiwan, they view the islands as their territory and wish to seize it one day.

Nancy Pelosi has tested positive for COVID-19 despite testing negative a week earlier. However, she is currently asymptomatic and is showing no signs.
According to her representative, Pelosi is fully vaccinated and boosted as well. Maybe because of that, she has shown no signs and is feeling normal.

The House Representative Speaker is currently staying in quarantine as per federal health guidelines. Along with Pelosi, other half dozen officials have also tested positive ins a few days. However, the number of cases across the country has dropped drastically.
