Officers responded to the 3400 block of Bolivar Street shortly before 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, and discovered 22-year-old Liese A. Dodd dead in her home.

According to investigators, Dodd’s mother went to check on her because she hadn’t heard from her in a while. When the mother arrived, she discovered her daughter had died and called the police.

Alton police began looking for Holloway as the investigation progressed. While investigating a theft, the Gillespie Police Department detained him later Thursday afternoon.

Liese Dodd, 22, was discovered beheaded in her house last week. She was murdered by a 22-year-old ex-boyfriend, Deundrea Holloway,  who the Alton police chief, Pulido, called a “savage monster.”

She was expecting a baby in the middle of July. Holloway and Dodd had been dating for roughly two years, on and off. Dodd had just relocated to Alton.

“This daughter, this mother-to-be, and her family were in the midst of preparing a baby shower for the end of June, but now the family is planning a funeral because of what a monster did,” Pulido explained.

Deundrea Holloway Charges Explained

Deundrea S. Holloway, of Litchfield, got charged with two charges of first-degree murder, two counts of intentional homicide of an unborn child, and dismembering a human body by the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office.

He was also charged with offensive motor vehicle connections and concealment of a homicidal death. According to a news statement from the Alton Police Department, Holloway’s bond was set at $2 million and he is being held at the Alton Police Department.

Liese Dodd’s Parents, Family And Tribute

Liese Dodd had a mother who unfortunately had to witness her daughter’s dead body. There  is not much information about Liese’s family on the internet,

Because she hadn’t heard from her since Thursday, her mother went to Dodd’s house in the 3400 block of Bolivar Street to check on her and “found her in a situation you can’t image.”

Authorities have been in “continuous touch” with Dodd’s family, according to Pulido, and he has asked that the public refrain from approaching them.

The chief requested the public to pray and think about all domestic violence victims, all homicide victims, and Dodd and her family.
