BRISTOL, Va. (WJHL) — No matter what side of State Street residents call home–they saw snow Friday evening into Saturday morning. Most people in Bristol woke up to at least 2 inches of snow and the same can be said for Marion and Abingdon.
With temperatures in the low 20s, city crews were out and about in the early morning hours clearing and salting sidewalks and taking care of roads.
Interstates and primary highways are all taken care of by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
VDOT Spokesperson Michelle Earl said all localities in Virginia were responding Friday into Saturday with the maximum number of snow plows and VDOT contractors.
Earl said crews will continue working in 12-hour shifts over the weekend to respond to the winter weather.
News Channel 11’s Kelly Goetz was out live throughout Southwest Virginia. Below are pictures from Marion.
