‘Little House on the Prairie’s Melissa Gilbert Claps Back At Megyn Kelly For Fears Netflix Will “Woke-ify” The Remake: “Watch The Original Again”

Megyn Kelly reportedly took issue with the news that Netflix will be rebooting Little House on the Prairie. But actress Melissa Gilbert, who led the 1974 series, was not here for Kelly’s criticisms.

Kelly reacted to the news of Little House on the Prairie‘s reboot with a post on X, where she tagged Netflix and wrote, “If you wokeify Little House on the Prairie I will make it my singular mission to absolutely ruin your project.”

Gilbert wasted no time in clapping back with a post on Instagram, where she advised Kelly to “watch any episode on any streaming platform anywhere in the world.”

“Apparently Megyn tweeted (I’m not on that platform) asking that Netflix not ‘woke-ify’ their Little House remake,” Gilbert wrote.

“Ummm…watch the original again. TV doesn’t get too much more ‘woke’ than we did. We tackled: racism, addiction, nativism, antisemitism, misogyny, rape, spousal abuse and every other ‘woke’ topic you can think of,” her statement continued.

Gilbert should know! She played Laura “Half-pint” Ingalls on the show from 1974 to 1983.

Netflix’s Little House on the Prairie reboot was announced just this week. The streamer said the new series will take a “transformed” approach to Laura Ingalls Wilder’s beloved series, describing the new series as “part family drama, part epic survival tale, and part origin story of the American West.”

Casting information has not yet been shared, so it’s unclear if Gilbert will be involved in the new series at all.

But she praised the news during a recent appearance on Good Morning America. “Anything that works for the Little House legacy floats all the boats,” she proudly said.

A premiere date has not been announced yet for Netflix’s Little House on the Prairie reboot. But for now, Gilbert is set to make a guest appearance in the Hallmark series When Calls The Heart.
