The Lake City Police Department conducted the investigation into Michael Anthony Burgos.

LAKE CITY, Fla. — The Lake City Police Department has arrested a man from Tampa on charges “related to online child exploitation,” they said in a press release Tuesday.

Anthony Michael Burgos, 30, is accused of engaging in “inappropriate online conversations” with an online user he thought was a 14-year-old boy from Lake City.

On Dec. 20, 2024, LCPD launched an investigation into Burgos after they suspected him of internet crimes against children. During the investigation, police said he sent explicit and pornographic photos of himself to the user.

Detectives executed a search warrant on Burgos’ social media and found more evidence linking him to similar crimes, LCPD said. The detectives then traveled to Tampa and joined the Tampa Police Department in arresting Burgos.

He was extradited to Columbia County, where he will face charges.
