THOMSON, Ga. () – The Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI) is investigating the case of a Thomson man who was found bound and gagged last month.
An incident report from the McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office shows law enforcement responded to Piedmont Hospital on Jan. 27 at 8:49 a.m. after a man was reportedly found on Washington Road at Lincolnton Road with his hands tied and duct tape on his mouth.
According to the report, the victim was a truck driver in his late 50s who lived in Thomson. At the time he was found, he had been “severely assaulted” and was covered in blood.
The incident report states he whispered, “they tried to kill me” to investigators with the sheriff’s office.
The victim has since been treated and was released from the hospital.
No arrests have been made at this time and this investigation is ongoing.
