Teen Mom star Catelynn Baltierra (née Lowell) claimed that her eldest daughter Carly’s adoptive parents, Brandon Davis and Teresa Davis, “cut” off contact between them.
“Before communication was cut, I was told Carly was asking her parents, ‘Why can’t we get together more? Why can’t we get together with them for holidays? They would fly here to see me,’” Catelynn, 32, alleged of their estrangement via her Instagram Stories on Sunday, February 10. “So in my heart, I don’t feel it’s her wanting this …”
The MTV star said if Brandon and Teresa told her it was Carly “not wanting contact,” she would “respect that with all of me.”
“And if her mom and dad called and said it’s what Carly wants, I would be silent,” she continued in another slide. “Y’all wouldn’t hear a thing from me again about the situation! Because at the end of the day, SHE is what’s most important.”
Catelynn and her husband, Tyler Baltierra, have had a complicated relationship with Brandon and Teresa, who adopted Carly — now 15 — after her birth in 2009.
Tyler, 33, shared an adoption update one day earlier on February 8, where he explained the couple “stopped sending gifts and updates” to Carly.

“All we can do now is continue to share our perspective, experience and truth as birth parents. All we can do now is continue to advocate for the minority group of adoptees,” he wrote in a lengthy Instagram Stories post. “We started an email for Carly and write to it often, so that way when she’s older and if/when she reaches, we can give her that password for her to read at her discretion. We only want her to have what we believe she deserves and that’s the truth.”
He continued, “We’ve actually just received our whole adoption file and the details in it are even more shocking than we anticipated. We only want what Carly wants, even if that means her wanting nothing to do with us, which we’ve stated from the beginning.”

Fans watched as Catelynn and Tyler made the difficult decision to place Carly for adoption during season 1 of 16 & Pregnant in 2009. They opted for an “open” adoption, allowing Brandon and Teresa to send Tyler and Catelynn photos of Carly over the years and granting them the chance to visit her in person once a year.
However, things changed as Carly got older and the couples began bumping heads when Catelynn claimed that the rules of adoption began to change. In September 2024, Catelynn alleged that Brandon and Teresa went as far as having her “blocked” her on social media.
“Adoption is crazy … I’m blocked all because of me sending updates and pictures of her sisters,” Catelynn, who also shares daughters Novalee, 10, Vaeda, 5, and Rya, 3, with Tyler, wrote via her Instagram Stories at the time. “How is that fair for Carly and her siblings?”
The relationship hasn’t seemed to have progressed in the right direction, as the MTV star revealed in January how long it’s been since she last saw Carly.
“The last time I saw Carly was, like, two years ago,” the MTV star told Us Weekly in an article published on January 29.
