URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — One Champaign County mall is using social media to try and attract more businesses to move in.
Lincoln Square posted on their Facebook on Tuesday, advertising a restaurant space that’s available in Urbana. It’s been vacant since Baldarotta’s moved out, and the mall has struggled with keeping tenants.
International Galleries has been here for nearly 42 years, and the owner said seeing the mall decline over the years is sad, but she’s hoping things will change.
“It’s different, but being here every day, I know that there’s still life here,” said International Galleries Owner Gali Meier. “I know that there is stuff happening with the food court, I know they’re looking for another tenant. I think Baldarotta’s leaving did leave a little bit of a dent, but they’re working to get other people back in here.”
In 1964, Lincoln Square was known as one of the nation’s first fully enclosed malls.
