Meryl Streep has never hosted a single episode of Saturday Night Live, so it came as a big surprise when the three-time Oscar winner suddenly decided to make her big debut during the 50th anniversary special on Sunday.

The 75-year-old acting legend portrayed Colleen Senior, the raunchy mother of SNL veteran Kate McKinnon’s recurring character Colleen Rafferty, who frequently got abducted by aliens.

‘I’m here!’ Meryl (born Mary Louise) entered the scene.

‘Sorry, my bathroom break took longer than I thought. My No. 1 turned into a No. 3.’

Streep proudly smiled: ‘Us Rafferty gals, we always attracted the freaks. For years, I thought Colleen’s father was part alien, but turns out he was just uncircumcised.’

The three-time Emmy winner went on to make two direct references to her past films in the sexually-charged skit, joking about no underwear ‘this Devil wears nada’ and calling her unkempt privates an ‘Into the Woods situation.’

At one point, Meryl flirted with a fellow abductee called Kermit (Pedro Pascal): ‘Well, a good mother can also be a baaaad girl. What’s your name, mustache?’

Streep then described their mother-daughter landing back on Earth: ‘Basically, it was a free fall for 40 feet with our carpits and our tarpits on full display.’

The seven-time Grammy nominee was likely inspired to finally appear on the NBC sketch show by her Only Murders in the Building leading man Martin Short, who served as a cast member during the 1984–85 season.

The rumored couple sat together at the SNL50: The Homecoming Concert last Friday as Will Ferrell and Ana Gasteyer reprised their roles as fictional Altadena Middle School music teachers Marty and Bobbi Mohan-Cu onstage Radio City Music Hall for a sketch.

The camera cut to Meryl as she jokingly flipped the bird to Will and Ana, who shot back: ‘We’re talking about you, Meryl Streep. We see you!’

On Sunday, Amy Schumer teased to People about the coy pair: ‘I think that the tea is, I think Marty might be off the market. That’s what I’m seeing. I don’t know. Maybe by just like the greatest actor of our time, I don’t know.’

The 74-year-old Canadian comedian has been single since tragically losing his wife Nancy Dolman, at age 58, in 2010 to ovarian cancer after 30 years of marriage and welcoming three adopted children.

And Streep legally separated from her husband Don Gummer in 2017 after 45 years of marriage and welcoming four children.

The Death Becomes Her alum will likely join Martin at the 31st Screen Actors Guild Awards – airing February 23 on Netflix – where he’s nominated for outstanding performance by a male actor in a comedy series and outstanding performance by an Ensemble in a comedy series.
