DENVER (KDVR) A 37-year-old man has been formally charged for his alleged role in the theft of two bulldogs from a Centennial pet store.

On Thursday, the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office said Timothy Davis was charged with theft, conspiracy to commit theft and three counts of drug-related charges. His preliminary hearing is set for March 25 at 1:30 p.m.

Davis’ charges and arrest stem from a theft from Perfect Pets, located at 6840 S. University Blvd., on Sunday. The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office said three men were caught on camera walking into the store and asking the employees questions.

While the employees assisted other customers, one of the men, identified as Davis, dropped to the ground. Deputies later determined that he was faking a seizure to distract the employees.

During Davis’ reported charade, one of the other suspects ran over to a dog pen and pulled out two bulldog puppies before running out of the store. Two of the suspects got inside a gold Cadillac Escalade, that was reportedly being driven by a woman and fled the scene.

Fortunately, a few days later, one of the puppies was returned by a woman who had purchased the bulldog from a street vendor in north Denver for $1,500. As of Friday, the second puppy is still missing.

Davis was subsequently arrested following the faked seizure, but police are still searching for the other two suspects and the possible getaway driver. The sheriff’s office said one of the suspects is described as a Black male, who was wearing a large black coat and sweatpants. The second suspect was described as a white or Hispanic male, last seen wearing a blue and white beanie-style hat and had brown hair.

A $4,000 reward is still being offered for the bulldog’s safe return. Anyone with information on the puppy or the outstanding suspects is asked to call the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office’s investigation tipline at 720-874-8477. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
