Kentaro Miura’s iconic Berserk manga series lays claim to 2024’s best-selling manga volume, beating out offerings from other major franchises like Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man.

Via MangaAlerts on X (formerly Twitter), ICv2‘s new report revealed data on 2024’s best-selling manga volume in the U.S. Dark Horse Comics’ Berserk Deluxe Vol. 1 topped the ranking, followed by Jujutsu Kaisen Vol. 22, and Chainsaw Man Vol. 14. The data came from Circana Bookscan, seen among the most reliable sources of sales data in the U.S. It claims to cover around 85% of trade books sold in the U.S., sourcing data via direct reporting from major retailers, independent bookstores and others through point-of-sale data. Unsurprisingly, VIZ Media, and more specifically, Shonen Jump, dominated the bestsellers list, composing 16 (17 including Uzumaki) of the top 20 titles. Circana data also recently revealed that the Solo Leveling manhwa is the fastest-growing graphic novel series in the U.S., beating out titles like One Piece and Dandadan.

Data last year revealed that VIZ also dominated rankings for 2023. Of the top 750 best-selling manga in the U.S. in 2023, VIZ accounted for 57%, followed by Kodansha and Yen Press both at 13%. Berserk made up most of Dark Horse‘s sales; the publisher recently announced that creator Kentaro Miura’s final manga series Duranki will receive an English release for the first time.
