Ruth Langsford allegedly discovered Eamonn Holmes on the phone to another woman which marked the beginning of the end for their marriage. It is reported the 65-year-old Loose Women star found out the GB News host, also 65, was “sharing intimate chats with another woman” before subsequently finding incriminating messages on his laptop. The couple, who had worked together on ITV’s This Morning, surprised fans by announcing their split in May 2024 after 14 years married and 27 years together.

“Eamonn thought he was in the house alone while he was chatting on the phone. But Ruth could hear him from elsewhere in the house and was totally horrified. She confronted Eamonn. It was quite a shock — for both of them. Eamonn had no idea Ruth was in the house at the time. It was a huge blow to Ruth… to discover he was sharing intimate chats with another woman was a real kick in the teeth for Ruth,” a source told The Sun.

The alleged phone call is said to have happened at their Surrey home a month before they announced their split. The following month Ruth reportedly found the laptop messages, prompting the separation announcement.

Express.co.uk has contacted representatives for Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes for comment.

It is not clear who Eamonn was allegedly talking to and messaging. He is now with his new girlfriend Katie Alexander. It was initially reported Eamonn and the 42-year-old Katie connected on social media in 2015. However subsequent claims suggested they actually met in 2012.

Katie’s ex-husband George, who she divorced in 2022 after 12 years of marriage, is said to have been a part of their early friendship. George, 53, joked that there was “flirting” between Katie and Eamonn, even quipping on X, previously known as Twitter: “Good job we’re both Red,” referencing their mutual support for Manchester United.

Ruth celebrated her first birthday since the split last week (March 17) with a trip to the Caribbean. As the star turned 65 a source told Express.co.uk she was: “determined to have a good birthday.

“It has been a tough year for her after splitting from Eamonn, and she is very aware it is her first birthday without him. But she feels like she is coming out the other side.

“She hasn’t heard from Eamonn yet, but she’s not really expecting to as she knows they’re both trying to move on with their lives,”

They added she is “putting on a brave face”, and was “so touched by her friends rallying around her” to make the day as cheerful as possible.
