AUGUSTA, Ga. () – The Masters is almost here, and visitors will see the scars across the city from Hurricane Helene.

“I’ve seen a few tarps around the neighborhood, especially over by County Club Hills. They were hit hard,” said Keith Stone.

Augusta was hit hard, as evidenced by the large debris piles sill stack up across the city, and what you see is what you will get until Easter time. The city has stopped debris pickup in advance of The Masters.
“We still got some hot spots to hit, everything in south of Tobacco Road might have to finish up on the second pass as well as the root balls. As far as the companies, they are coming back they will address it,” said Mayor Pro-Tem Wayne Guilfoyle.
Augusta did not finish picking up storm debris by Masters.

Even after nearly six months of work, so how do residents feel about the city’s effort?
“Did a good job, because I’ve seen a lot of areas that we’re really hard it and it’s in pretty good condition now,” said Alberta Edney.
‘It’s been a slow process, it’s been done I feel to the best of their abilities they’re doing all they can possibly do it was pretty bad,” said Rebecca Dent-Jenkins.
“I’ll give them a B-plus, looking forward to the tournament,” said Stone.

 “Not an A?”

“No, they’re not done yet,” said Stone.
“If they would have looked at when the storm did hit to what it looks like now, most people would say what a heck of an improvement, we never thought it could done in this amount of time,” said Guilfoyle.

Helene created a lot of work for the city, and six months some of the work, is still there.
