ORLANDO, Fla. – A Central Florida bondsman accused of human trafficking was released from jail Tuesday after posting bond.

Russell “Bruce” Moncrief, the owner of bail bond businesses in Brevard, Orange and Osceola counties, was arrested in October on allegations that he used his position as a bail bondsman to force women into having sex with him in exchange for bail money.

Earlier, News 6 obtained documents with evidence from the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigations, accusing Moncrief of preying on women for more than a decade, targeting women held on prostitution or drug charges.

Detectives say they logged hundreds of phone calls where code words were often used with the inmates. They also say they have photos that show Moncrief meeting the women at area businesses, including a Brevard County business office.

“It is Mr. Moncrief’s position that he denies any and all of these allegations and he looks forward to proving his innocence in court,” said attorney Rose Feller.

The charges Moncrief faces include racketeering and human trafficking. He has pleaded not guilty.
