AI could fuel a new US manufacturing boom

() As talks of tariffs continue to grow, the U.S. could possibly be on the brink of a new manufacturing boom.

Some companies have even proposed moving their operations to the U.S., which could mean more jobs and fewer supply chain disruptions.

It could, however, also mean a rise in artificial intelligence factories. The Trump administration says the technology could actually help the American worker rather than harming them.

“We refuse to view A.I. as a purely disruptive technology that will inevitably automate away our labor force,” Vice President JD Vance said. “We will fight for policies that ensure that A.I. is going to make our workers more productive and we expect that they will reap the rewards with higher wages, better benefits and safer, more prosperous communities.”

A.I.-driven automation is already transforming multiple industries throughout the world and even in the U.S. in states like California, which is the country’s top manufacturing state.

DynamC Robotics is a company that is building the machinery that could change how factories operate as companies weigh whether to make big investments in A.I. machinery. Some engineers say having that machinery curtails the need for manual labor.

“We are seeing that the machines will replace jobs, but it is also creating new jobs and often times higher paid jobs because of these machines,” Brennan Tobin, a design engineering manager with DynamC Robotics said. “Right now, we’re seeing people that are doing physical labor transitioning to more technical jobs.”
