FISHER, Ill. (WCIA) — Next month, the Fisher Police Chief is calling it quits. Steven Bein will be retiring on June 13.

He said he’s had a terrific career working in law enforcement for more than 35 years. It started back in 1988 working for the Piatt County Sheriff’s Office, then Bement, Gibson City and now he’s ending his journey at Fisher.

“So, I’ve said it about everybody, I’m not going to spend 10 hours a day in a squad car. I’m going to do things that I want to do,” Bein said. “I’ve got a big shop, it’s all cluttered and a mess, I want to get it cleaned out so I can actually work in it and do things. I’ve got some projects around the house that I need to take care of for the wife.”

He said out of all his years in law enforcement, one of his biggest accomplishments was being able to connect with each community he served.
