Alien: Earth is shaping up to be as haunting as the films.

Hulu and FX released the first official trailer for the new series Alien: Earth, hailing from creator Noah Hawley and executive producer Ridley Scott.

The new series brings Xenomorphs to Earth in the year 2120, where the planet is governed by five corporations – some of which fans of the franchise will know quite well: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic and Threshold.

While Alien: Romulus showed fans what life was like for citizens living under Weyland-Yutani’s rule, most of Alien: Earth seems to be set in Prodigy City.

The trailer, which can be watched at the top of this page, begins in Prodigy City, where a “very, very special” young girl the first human to transition into a synthetic, or a hybrid, thanks to the work of the wunderkind founder and CEO of Prodigy Corporation. Wendy (Sydney Chandler) then leads a troupe of hybrids and soldiers to investigate a Weyland-Yutani spaceship that crashed into Prodigy City with several mysterious lifeforms on board that were uncovered in “darkest corners of the universe.”

But the Prodigy Corporation CEO – who is creepy enough to rival even Peter Weyland – is clear: “I want what’s on that ship.”

The official description teases the hybrids will be forced to make a choice: “With this new threat unlocked, the search crew must fight for survival and what they choose to do with this discovery could change planet Earth as they know it.”

The trailer includes some stunning vistas of life on Earth in Neverland Research Island and the Prodigal City, contrasted against the facehuggers and other horrors they discover aboard the ship. It also gives a first glimpse of an eerie Timothy Olyphant, who reportedly plays Kirsh, Wendy’s synth mentor and trainer.

How to stream Alien: Earth

If you’re new to Hulu, you can get started with a 30-day free trial on the streamer’s basic (with ads) plan. After the trial period, you’ll pay $9.99/month. If you want to upgrade to Hulu ad-free, it costs $18.99/month.

If you want to stream even more and save a few bucks a month while you’re at it, we recommend subscribing to one of the Disney+ Bundles, all of which include Hulu. These bundles start at $10.99/month for ad-supported Disney+ and Hulu and goes up to $29.99/month for Disney+, Hulu, and Max, all ad-free.

When does Alien: Earth premiere?

Alien: Earth premieres on FX and Hulu Tuesday, August 12.

It’s unclear if all of the Season 1 episodes will be released all at once, in batches, or weekly. But, The Handmaid’s Tale had a three-episode premiere for Season 6 this year before switching to a weekly schedule, so it’s possible that Alien: Earth could follow a similar streaming schedule.
