() President Trump has rebuked California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s criticism of the administration’s handling of protests against ICE in Los Angeles County.

Trump took to Truth Social following comments from Newsom on X, where the governor said, “the federal government is sowing chaos.”

In a Truth Social post on Saturday night, the president wrote: “If Governor Gavin Newscum, of California, and Mayor Karen Bass, of Los Angeles, can’t do their jobs, which everyone knows they can’t, then the Federal Government will step in and solve the problem, RIOTS & LOOTERS, the way it should be solved!!!”

The National Guard has been deployed to assist Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents amid escalating protests, Tom Homan, Trump’s border czar, told Fox News Saturday.

Newsom took aim at the move in his posts to X.

“That move is purposefully inflammatory and will only escalate tensions,” he wrote. “… This is the wrong mission and will erode public trust.”

Newsom added that the state was deploying the California Highway Patrol “to keep the peace.” He said the Trump administration’s deployment of the National Guard was “purposefully inflammatory and will only escalate tensions.”
