Kristin Cavallari is having a stellar year so far thanks to her new series, Honestly Cavallari: The Headline Tour. Now, the former Laguna Beach star is opening up about her decision to cut her father out of her life, how she would mend the fractured relationship with Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag, and more.
Regarding Kristin’s relationship with her dad, Dennis Cavallari, she has been open since 2023 about not being on speaking terms with him. She has since referred to him as a narcissist and stated that their fallout happened as a result of an interaction he had with her kids.
Kristin was recently on Sirius XM’s Page Six Radio show to promote her new docu-series. While on the show, one of the hosts, Danny Murphy, asked about her status with her father. Notably, he discussed having a strained relationship with his dad and how others in his life often try to convince him to repair their connection.
She said, “You know what’s interesting? No one in my life says that to me.” Kristin went on, “Yeah. Yeah, and I think because, listen, a lot of stuff has gone on with my dad. He’s crossed the line with my kids, and those are deal breakers for me, and I think I’m just at a point in my life where if someone can’t take accountability, ’cause I think really, what we all want is accountability. If I hurt your feelings and I come to you, you just want me to be like, ‘You know what? I am really sorry.’ Not be like, ‘Well, here’s why I did it.’”
She continued, “I don’t want you to defend yourself. Just tell me you’re sorry and acknowledge it. It’s really difficult for a lot of people and when you cross a boundary like my dad did, and you can’t just take some accountability, well I can’t have you in my life then, but I think because everyone in my life knows what happened and knows the relationship that we’ve had, that’s why no one is like, ‘I think you should probably…’”
This line of conversation persisted, and Kristin highlighted how negative her father’s actions were without saying specifically what he did. According to her, “Like if people knew what happened, no one I think would be like, ‘you should really try.’ I know.”
She added, “He’s out of my life forever, and by the way, I don’t think you have to have guilt about it either. You know, your dad passed, and you guys had a tumultuous relationship. Well, that’s not on you, by the way. The parent should be the parent. I’m a mother. If my kid was like, ‘Hey, I don’t want you in my life,’ I would do everything to make sure I was gonna be in that kid’s life. I can’t even imagine as a parent being like, ‘Okay, bye.’”
While on the radio show, Kristin also touched on a more lighthearted situation. A caller asked how she would mend the friendship between Lauren and Heidi. She said, “For the greater good. Okay. I think what I’m gonna do, you guys, is if I do another podcast tour, I’m gonna have them both come out but not tell each other, and then they have to make amends on stage.”
Fans can watch Kristin on Honestly Cavallari: The Headline Tour on Wednesday nights.
