‘Empty’ Kim Kardashian shares heartbreaking birthday tribute to late friend months after she died of ‘rare’ cancer

Kim Kardashian mourned her childhood friend Lindsay May after she died from a rare form of cancer.

The “Kardashians” star took to Instagram Saturday to honor what would’ve been the entertainment consultant’s birthday by sharing several photos of them.

“It was just your birthday and I know you never liked to make a big deal of it, but Happy Heavenly Birthday, Lindz 💜🦋,” she wrote.

“I waited months to post this, mostly because I couldn’t find the right words,” Kardashian, 44, added. “Nothing really captures how quiet and empty our lifers chat feels without you in it.

“I know you’d probably roll your eyes at me posting anything — especially since you didn’t really even have social media — but I couldn’t go through this lake trip without feeling you everywhere, and I needed to share it.”

Sharing old photos of May at the lake, she added, “The lake was your happy place. It made you feel lighter, healthier … you were you.”

Kardashian shared that going to the lake with May and their other “lifers” was her favorite “tradition because it’s where we spend time with all of our kids being together and get real time with each other without any outside noise.”

“We felt your absence this year in every sunset, every laugh, every quiet moment,” the Skims co-founder added.

“We miss you so f–king much, Lindz. Our world is not the same without you,” she continued. “I guess that’s why I hold onto this lake tradition so tightly.”

“We’ll always have the lake — and in that, we’ll always have a piece of you. 💜🦋,” Kardashian concluded.

The businesswoman received support from fellow celebrities, including her sister Khloé Kardashian, who wrote, “Beautifully said … I love you 💜🦋.”

In January, the Daily Mail reported that May had died.

“It’s been really hard on Kim because she had known Lindsay since she was a child growing up in Beverly Hills,” an insider told the outlet.

“They are only in their forties, not their nineties, so it is difficult to process,” they added.

“Kim has found comfort with her circle of friends, which she calls her ‘lifers’ and with her sisters who knew Lindsay.”

Last month, the mom of four shared that their mutual friend Simone Harouche started a fundraiser selling Citizens of Humanity jeans called “The Linz” to raise money for research on the disease.

“In memory of our Lifer Lindz who recently passed away of a rare form of cancer,” she wrote at the time.
