Two people dead in drownings on Hilton Head, Hunting Island

ST. HELENA ISLAND, S.C. () — The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred late Friday night on Capers Island Circle.

At approximately 11:54 p.m. on July 18, deputies responded to reports of a gunshot victim at a home on St. Helene Island. While responding, deputies encountered a vehicle attempting to transport the victim to the hospital.

Officials began life-saving measures until Beaufort County EMS arrived and transported the victim to the hospital. The victim died from their injuries despite their efforts.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation. No charges have been filed at this time.
