On Wednesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that President Trump had guaranteed him that the primary objective in his upcoming meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin is to advocate for a ceasefire.

Zelensky revealed what Trump told him and other leaders in Europe on Wednesday about his plans for his Alaskan summit with Putin on Friday.
Trump agreed with them that the focus should be on halting the fight first before the full terms of ending the war can be negotiated, Zelensky said.

“All the partners demonstrated one voice, one desire, and one principle,” Zelensky told reporters of the meeting.

“A ceasefire needs to happen, and there should be security assurances. President Trump expressed his support for this initiative and discussed America’s willingness to participate,” Zelensky mentioned.
