Yankees haven't solved deficiency but simple path to playoffs exists

On Sunday night, the Yankees handled some matters during a 7-2 victory over the Red Sox in The Bronx. They avoided adding to a growing streak, averting a fourth consecutive home loss to the Sox late in the season. This would have echoed the infamous Boston Massacre of 1978 when the Yankees similarly dominated the Sox.

The Yankees ensured they wouldn’t share a miserable chapter with the 1912 Yankees, previously known as the Highlanders, who suffered a 2-19 record against the Sox and were outscored 149-76, ending up 55 games behind the 105-57 Sox. This season, the worst they can achieve is a 2-11 record against them.

Hey, small steps before bigger ones, am I right?

Primarily, the team focused on utilizing the inviting dimensions of Yankee Stadium to their advantage, excelling in their forte by hitting four home runs. Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Trent Grisham each contributed two home runs, accounting for six of their seven runs, which helped them clinch a win over the Red Sox.
