Staff report from Alachua Police Department release
ALACHUA, Fla. – Kenneth Bruce Scott Jr., 31, of Alachua, has been arrested in connection with an ongoing sexual battery investigation involving a juvenile victim.
In August 2023, the victim and her father moved to Alachua. Shortly after the family moved into the area, Scott befriended the victim, who was 11 years old at the time, and developed a relationship of trust with both the victim and her family. Over time, Scott assumed custodial responsibility for the victim during occasions when the victim’s father was away for work.
Alachua Police Department Detectives determined that between 2023 and 2025, Scott used his position of authority to engage in repeated acts of sexual abuse with the victim. These incidents took place in Scott’s residence, during overnight stays, and while on family outings.
In June 2025, after the victim and her father moved away, the victim disclosed the abuse to her father. He immediately reported the allegations to law enforcement. Following the disclosure, detectives initiated a criminal investigation and scheduled a forensic interview at the Child Advocacy Center in Gainesville.
On July 11, 2025, during the forensic interview, the victim provided detailed statements confirming repeated incidents of sexual abuse by Scott. Based on the findings of the interview and corroborating evidence, detectives positively identified Scott and obtained charges.
