A Kentucky woman allegedly told several people that she intended to kill her younger sister by setting her bed on fire while she slept.

Addison Brown, 22, was arrested by police in Louisville after an investigation into a fire she is now accused of setting intentionally. According to an arrest warrant reviewed by Law&Crime, police said Brown was responsible for setting a mattress on fire while her younger sister was sleeping on it. The alleged incident occurred on June 1, and after arson investigators looked into the events surrounding the fire, they found that Brown had allegedly sent a number of incriminating text messages afterwards.

According to the search warrant, Brown fled immediately after the fire, which did not result in any injuries. Brown”s sister, whom Law&Crime is not naming, “woke up with flames next to her” and quickly put the fire out with a pillow. She called for assistance, and the fire was extinguished by the time first responders arrived.

In addition to Brown’s sister, three other people were in the home, though their relationships to Brown and her sister were not made clear in the warrant.

Police said that Brown allegedly sent “several individuals” text messages in which she admitted to setting the fire on purpose “in an attempt to kill” her sister. Brown’s sister was reportedly one of the recipients of those messages.

According to the warrant, Brown allegedly caused more than $500 worth of damage to the home.

Brown was arrested after midnight on Friday, when she also made her first court appearance. She was booked into the Louisville Metropolitan Department of Corrections on charges of attempted murder, arson, and wanton endangerment. Her arraignment is scheduled for Sept. 22.
