Staff report

HAWTHORNE, Fla. – Patrick Lendell Green, 49, and Shawanna Latisha Williams, 47, have been charged with drug trafficking after they reportedly referred to drugs in jail phone conversations.

Williams was arrested on July 26 after a traffic stop for an expired tag. She reportedly denied consent to search the vehicle, but a K-9 team alerted on the vehicle, and the search reportedly produced 3.25 grams of “crack” cocaine, a loaded revolver, and a marijuana pipe. She was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to sell, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, maintaining a drug vehicle, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released on $67,500 bail, but in a phone call from the jail to Green on July 26, Green reportedly asked her, “Did they catch you with all of it?” and Williams responded, “No.” Green reportedly said, “Everyone calling you now, trying to buy some now… They were watching you, they are probably watching me, too. You got to be careful now; I do, too.”

On August 20, an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Green, whose driver’s license was suspended. Green allegedly fled for about three-quarters of a mile until he was boxed in by another patrol vehicle. A search of the vehicle reportedly produced 3.22 grams of marijuana, and Green was charged with fleeing with lights and sirens active, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana, and driving with a suspended license. Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $5,000.

On August 21, deputies obtained a search warrant for the pair’s residence, a rented property owned by the Alachua County Housing Authority with a sign that says, “Zero Drug Tolerance.” The search reportedly produced about 48.2 grams of cocaine, about 12.8 grams of marijuana, one pressed fentanyl pill, and a razor blade with cocaine residue, mixed with items belonging to both defendants.

Green reportedly made a call to an unknown person from the jail and asked, “What did they find… everything?”

On top of the previous charges, Green was charged on August 21 with trafficking in cocaine, possession of a controlled substance, maintaining a drug dwelling, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He has six felony convictions (non-violent) and six misdemeanor convictions (non-violent); he has served one state prison sentence and was released in 2016. Judge Jonathan Ramsey added $132,000 to his previous bail of $5,000.

A warrant for Williams’ arrest was issued on August 28, and she was arrested yesterday. Williams has been charged with trafficking in cocaine, possession of a controlled substance, maintaining a drug dwelling, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She has three misdemeanor convictions and was on pre-trial release in the July case, and Judge Jonathan Ramsey set bail at $210,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
