Gus was last reported seen around 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 27, at Oak Park Station, his family’s homestead, located approximately 40 kilometers south of Yunta in the remote stretches of South Australia.

Task Force Horizon is comprised of 12 specialized experts dedicated to analyzing data and identifying potential areas for the search to focus on, in hopes of locating Lamont as swiftly as possible.

Authorities have indicated that they expect to complete the search within the specified radius by tomorrow, bringing a sense of urgency to the mission.

However, the search was temporarily halted at midday today due to soaring temperatures, which reached 37 degrees Celsius in the area, posing a challenge to the ongoing efforts.

Police insist the case is still a missing persons investigation, though major crime detectives are monitoring the case and are keeping all lines of inquiry open.

“We are dedicated to making sure we do everything we possibly can to bring Gus back to his family,” South Australia Police Commissioner Grant Stevens said on Tuesday.

“We are searching in quite unusual terrain, it is a significant effort… we’re exhausting every opportunity to recover Gus.”
