In a tragic turn of events, the father of 7-month-old Emmanuel Haro has admitted to committing the unthinkable: the murder of his own child. Jake Haro, aged 32, confessed his guilt on Thursday, acknowledging his role not only in the murder but also in child endangerment and filing a false police report, as confirmed by the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office.

Notably, Jake Haro’s admissions were made without any plea agreement in place, indicating a straightforward acceptance of the charges he faces. His sentencing is slated for November 3, a date that coincides with a court hearing for his wife, 41-year-old Rebecca Haro. She is also charged with murder and filing a false police report. Jake Haro now faces the prospect of spending 25 years to life behind bars.

In August, both Jake and Rebecca Haro were formally charged and initially pleaded not guilty to the accusations, according to CrimeOnline. The case sent ripples through the community, particularly after the Haros reported their son missing on August 14. Rebecca Haro had claimed that an unknown assailant rendered her unconscious while she was changing Emmanuel’s diaper, subsequently kidnapping the infant. In a series of public appeals, she tearfully implored the public for assistance in finding her missing child.

The Haros were charged in August and initially both entered not guilty pleas, as CrimeOnline reported.

he Haros reported Emmanuel missing on on August 14, with Rebecca Haro claiming that someone she did not see knocked her unconscious while she was changing Emmanuel’s diaper and took the boy. In dramatic and emotional interviews after the reported disappearance, she begged for help finding her son.

But investigators soon found “inconsistencies” in her stories, leading to the charges.

Investigators launched an immediate search for the boy when he was reported missing, but that search transitioned into a recovery effort. The DA’s office said the little boy’s body has not been found.

Officials said they would make no further comment on the case because the case against Rebecca Haro remains ongoing.
