Kingsport pets prayed for at annual 'Blessing of the Animals'

In Kingsport, Tennessee, a special gathering took place at Borden Park on Saturday as fifteen local churches came together for a “Blessing of the Animals” event, offering prayers for the city’s beloved pets and their families.

The event was a festive occasion, with pets donning Halloween costumes for complimentary family portraits. Attendees enjoyed the artistic talents of face painters and balloon animal creators, adding to the lively atmosphere.

Pastor Melissa Malcolm from St. Matthew Methodist Church remarked on the significance of the event, emphasizing the importance of acknowledging “God’s creation” and the integral role pets play in family life.
