Travis Hunter’s ascent to becoming the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and a standout player for the Jacksonville Jaguars is a testament to the unwavering support and influence of his family.
Rooted in both Florida, where his parents reside, and Georgia, where his younger siblings live, Hunter’s journey to stardom is a testament to the powerful combination of natural talent and a close-knit family backing. While his on-field accomplishments have been widely celebrated, it’s the strong personal network behind this NFL rookie that deserves a spotlight.

Meet Travis Hunter’s Parents
The bedrock of Travis Hunter’s success can be traced to the dedication of his parents, Travis Hunter Sr. and Ferrante Edmonds. His father, Travis Sr., not only has a legacy of his own—having excelled in track and football during high school and later winning Offensive Rookie of the Year in the Southern States Football League in 2007—but he also served as an inspiration and mentor to his son.
Equally significant in Hunter’s life is his mother, Ferrante Edmonds, who has been a steadfast source of encouragement. In a touching gesture that underscores their close bond, Hunter gifted her a new five-bedroom house in Savannah, Georgia, in March 2024, a moment he shared with his YouTube audience.

As Hunter’s journey unfolded, his family was there every step of the way. His mother proudly accompanied him during the Heisman Trophy ceremony, and his father was by his side at the NFL Draft, celebrating his entry into the professional football arena.
A Shoutout to Grandma Shirley
Behind every great athlete is often a proud grandmother, and for Travis Hunter, that is Shirley Hunter.
She holds a special place in his story, as she was the one who first introduced him to the game of football when he was growing up in Palm Beach County, Florida. Her influence clearly stuck, and she celebrated his NFL dream coming true with her own watch party on draft night.
His Own Family: Wife Leanna and Newborn Son
A new family is now at the center of Hunter’s life. He and his wife, Leanna Lenee, began dating in high school in Suwanee, Georgia, and their relationship continued through his college years at Jackson State and Colorado. The couple got engaged in February 2024 and were married in May 2025.
Their family grew this year with the arrival of their first child, a son. Hunter and Leanna announced the birth with a vlog titled “Dear Son…” on YouTube, where the rookie was already giving his newborn some friendly future advice: “Got to be better than me”.
Travis Hunter Athletic Younger Siblings

- Trayvis Hunter: His younger brother is a three-star recruit in the class of 2027 who plays football for Collins Hill.
- Taylor Hunter: His younger sister also attends Collins Hill, where she plays basketball and runs track.
- Junior Hunter: The youngest sibling is currently in kindergarten and, following his older brothers’ footsteps, might just be the next phenom in the family.
