AUSTIN (KXAN) – Students at Manor Independent School District are redefining the concept of farm-to-table with an innovative twist.
At Oak Meadows Elementary School, educators have rolled out an exciting program that involves hydroponic cultivation of fresh lettuce and basil, as part of the district’s Farm to School initiative.
Hydroponic gardening allows plants to thrive in a nutrient-rich water solution instead of soil. Manor ISD has invested in hydroponic towers, which enable plants to grow more rapidly and abundantly compared to conventional methods.
