A tragic accident occurred on Friday morning when a minibus carrying Chinese tourists lost control and crashed on the Indonesian island of Bali, resulting in the deaths of five passengers and injuries to eight others.

The minibus was navigating a winding, downhill road as it traveled from the southern region of Bali to the northern part of the island.

According to Buleleng regency police chief Ida Bagus Widwan Sutadi, the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and crash into a garden, ultimately colliding with a tree.

Sutadi stated, “The accident happened because the driver failed to exercise caution while turning and descending, which led the minibus to leave the asphalt road and enter a community garden.”

At the time of the incident, the national road in the Padangbulia village area was reported to be dry.

The eight other passengers who were reported injured were treated at two hospitals.

The Indonesian driver, who did not need hospital treatment, has been arrested.

Road accidents are common in Indonesia because of poor safety standards and infrastructure.
