DCLM Daily Manna 20 November 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The Need For Intercessors

TOPIC: The Need For Intercessors (DCLM Daily Manna 20 November 2025)

KEY VERSE: “And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none” (Ezekiel 22:30).

TEXT: Ezekiel 22:23-31 (KJV)

23 And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

24 Son of man, say unto her, Thou art the land that is not cleansed, nor rained upon in the day of indignation.

25 There is a conspiracy of her prophets in the midst thereof, like a roaring lion ravening the prey; they have devoured souls; they have taken the treasure and precious things; they have made her many widows in the midst thereof.

26 Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.

27 Her princes in the midst thereof are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, to get dishonest gain.

28 And her prophets have daubed them with untempered morter, seeing vanity, and divining lies unto them, saying, Thus saith the Lord God, when the Lord hath not spoken.

29 The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy: yea, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully.

30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.

31 Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord God.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

Modern preachers and ministers often act as though they can be more loving and sympathetic than God, who personifies love. In preaching, they portray Him as an indulgent and permissive God who looks away from the disobedience of “His people”; after all, the atonement of Jesus Christ has covered all their sins and transgressions. They talk so much about God’s love and His compassion and never want to teach that He is also the God of justice, ostensibly so that their listeners will not become “sin-conscious”. God has never condoned sin in His people. The Scripture is clear: “The soul that sinneth, it shall die.” The sin of nations or individuals attracts God’s displeasure. It must interest us that no one condemned sin and talked about God’s judgment as Jesus did, yet He personified love.

Our passage today reveals a balanced view of God’s attributes. On the one hand, He is gracious, merciful, and loving; and conversely, He judges and punishes sin without respect of persons or nations. Following the uniform testimony of Scripture, Moses categorically declared to Israel, “Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations; And repayeth them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hateth him, he will repay him to his face” (Deuteronomy 7:9,10). Therefore, God’s love and mercy must not be taken for granted by Israel or the Church today.

Ezekiel boldly denounced the false prophets, the king, and the people, in his prophecy. God will judge them for their uncleanness, conspiracy against Him, robbery, killings, disobedience of the law, and disregard for the Sabbath.

God has no delight in the nation’s devastation; he therefore sought mediation – someone to intercede for the land, to avert His judgment, but he found none. He remains the same gracious God today. Who is willing to mediate for the nation? Who is willing to pay the price for divine intervention in the countries? The world still needs men like Moses, Elijah, Elisha, and Paul, who are willing to stake their lives, speak the truth to the high and low, turn others to God and stand in the gap for souls. You can be one, too!

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
God still needs intercessors!
