The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) is urging Christians nationwide to come together in prayer on Sunday, December 7, in response to what they describe as a “Christian genocide” occurring throughout the country.

During a meeting of its National Executive Council in Jos, Plateau State, CAN declared a day of prayer across the nation, seeking divine assistance in the matter.

A memo dated November 20, signed by General Secretary Apostle Prof. Samson A. Fatokun, was sent out, urging church leaders and pastors to rally their congregations for this significant prayer event.

“The CAN President, His Eminence Archbishop (Dr.) Daniel C. Okah, has instructed that this prayer be carried out with great fervor. We have faith that our God will demonstrate His power just as He did in the days of Esther,” the memo emphasizes.

“The CAN President, His Eminence Archbishop (Dr.) Daniel C. Okah, has directed that this prayer be taken with all fervency. We strongly believe that our God will rise in power as He did in Esther’s time,” the memo said.

The memo stated that the prayer would focus on ending the alleged genocide against Christians, resettling displaced victims, halting terrorist activities, granting wisdom to leaders, and restoring peace nationwide.

Citing biblical passages from 2 Chronicles 7:14 and Esther 4:15-16, CAN urged churches to intercede passionately, expressing confidence that the spiritual exercise would lead to divine intervention for the nation.

The memo, titled “Declaration of a One-Day Nationwide Prayer Against Christian Genocide in Nigeria,” ended with CAN affirming its commitment to protecting Christians across the country.
