On Sunday morning, individuals reported being fired upon while driving along Cesery Blvd., resulting in one person sustaining injuries. This incident followed a fatal shooting on Blanding Blvd. the previous night.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Within a span of less than 10 hours this weekend, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office was called to respond to two separate shootings, one of which resulted in a fatality and the other in injuries to two people.

At approximately 8:40 P.M. on Saturday, JSO officers were dispatched to the 7900 block of Blanding Boulevard, near Collins Road in the Duclay neighborhood, following reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, first responders discovered two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims succumbed to their injuries, while the other was transported to a hospital and is expected to recover, according to JSO. The identity of the deceased has not been released to the public.

Authorities have detained several individuals for questioning as the investigation continues to unfold.

On Sunday morning, shortly after 5 a.m., another shooting was reported in the 600 block of Cesery Boulevard, near the intersection with University Boulevard. According to JSO, a man in his early 20s was found with a gunshot wound to his calf.

The victim is believed to have first gotten into a confrontation on Mill Creek Road before leaving the area with three other people in his car. While driving on Cesery Boulevard, JSO says the car was hit by gunfire coming from two other vehicles.

“The victim and witnesses were not able to provide a good description for the suspect vehicles and unable to provide any suspect information,” JSO Sgt. Johnson wrote in a briefing on the incident.

Anyone with information that could help in the investigation of either incident is encouraged to contact JSO directly at 904-630-0500 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
