Leading the pack with nine nominations, Paul Thomas Anderson’s film “One Battle After Another” is making waves in this year’s awards circuit.

WASHINGTON — The 83rd Golden Globes will officially launch the 2026 awards season this Sunday evening, drawing the biggest names in film and television to celebrate their achievements.

On Monday, “One Battle After Another” emerged as a frontrunner at the Golden Globes, securing nine nominations. This development bolsters its status as an Oscar contender and represents a significant win for Warner Bros., amid its ongoing acquisition by Netflix.

Who’s leading in the nominations?

The film garnered nominations for its talented ensemble, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Teyana Taylor, Sean Penn, and Chase Infiniti, along with recognition for Anderson’s exceptional screenplay and direction. It is vying for awards in the Globes’ comedy and musical categories.

Following closely is Joachim Trier’s “Sentimental Value,” a poignant Norwegian drama centered on a filmmaking family. This film received eight nominations, with accolades for actors Stellan Skarsgård, Renate Reinsve, Elle Fanning, and Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, underscoring its impact in the industry.

Close on its heels was Joachim Trier’s “Sentimental Value,” a Norwegian family drama about a filmmaking family. The Neon release’s eight nominations included nods for four of its actors: Stellan Skarsgård, Renate Reinsve, Elle Fanning and Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas.

When are the Golden Globes?

The Golden Globes will air live on CBS and stream on Paramount+ starting at 8 p.m. Eastern. They’ll be hosted by Nikki Glaser this year.
