11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
15 Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,
DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:
Choice making is not a carefree or frivolous exercise for serious-minded and purpose driven individuals. Adequate time, diligent efforts, and careful consideration are put in before arriving at a choice. Such purpose-driven choices are made to align with well-defined goals, values, and aspirations. Once all these factors have been carefully weighed and one choice is decide upon, everything is committed to it.
Paul the apostle, inspired by the Holy Spirit, has been expressing praise and thanksgiving to God as he reflects on the wonder of God’s grace and love in redeeming us and choosing us to be His people. As he looks at the inheritance and other benefits that come with this choice, he wants us to understand that our choice by God wasn’t an impulsive, rash, or irrational action. It was a well-thought-out and carefully calculated choice. He had planned the choice long beforehand and had a clear-cut purpose. Those He chose are meant to reflect His praise and glory. This is His predetermined plan; that they will be for His glory.
As we rejoice in our election and privilege of salvation in Christ,we must not be quick to forget the reason we have been selected. Grace does not leave us the way it meets us. It does something transformative in us. It takes us from the state of ignominy and shame that sin brought upon us to a new realm of glory and praise. Our life is now to reflect the glory and praise of God. If after we profess to have become part of the chosen of God but are still messed up with shameful and disgraceful acts, then our profession is surely doubtful.
Right from the point of salvation until the final day when we become forever united with God in heaven, our lives should show the glory of God. People that knew us before our conversion must be able to testify of the glorious change that has taken place in our lives. The new people we meet in our daily activities should also be able to tell the difference in our lives when compared to those of others. This is why God has chosen us. Let us ask Him for grace to live to fulfill this purpose.
