Whoopi Goldberg brought another heated discussion to a halt on The View as she and her fellow hosts debated a groundbreaking legal decision from Turkey.

On Tuesday’s broadcast, Goldberg expressed her doubts about the topic. “Liking provocative photos on social media might land you in hot water with your partner, and now it could even be used against you in a court of law,” she said. “In a landmark decision, a Turkish court ruled that liking other women’s social media posts can be considered evidence in divorce cases. This case concluded that a man undermined the trust in his marriage by persistently liking other women’s photos online. So, what are your thoughts on this decision? Is it legitimate grounds for divorce?”

Sunny Hostin, known for her candid views on marriage and relationships, was quick to voice her opinion. “I’m quite fond of this ruling,” she remarked, suggesting, “Perhaps it’s something we should consider here in the United States.”

As the conversation continued, Hostin questioned the motives behind a married individual liking others’ photos on social media. Sara Haines quipped in response, “Just because I’m married doesn’t mean I’m blind!”

Goldberg then expressed her concerns with the case and questioned the relevance of discussing it on their show.

“What happens if you like a Santa sweater and you hit like and it’s being worn by a man? Then I can take you to court too,” she pointed out.

But Goldberg could not resist sharing how she really felt about the case. “This is like a really dumb thing. And why we’re discussing it when it doesn’t happen here in the United States, I don’t understand,” she said.

Haines, on the other hand, added that she’s “really loose with my fire emoji” on social media, which means she could run into some trouble if a similar ruling was made in the United States.

“I’ve never looked at what [my husband] Max likes. He’s never looked at what I liked,” she said.

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
