In a rather unusual incident early Monday morning, a man found himself in trouble not just with the elements but also with the law after a dramatic car crash in Glynn County, Georgia. The man, identified as Mario Archer, 57, was arrested for interfering with his own rescue after his vehicle ended up in a pond.

The incident unfolded around 1:30 a.m. when the Glynn County Police Department responded to an accident involving a single vehicle on the northbound off-ramp of I-95, near the 6900 block of Highway 99 close to Buc-ee’s. Archer’s black Chevrolet Colorado had failed to navigate a curve, veered off the road, and crashed through two fences on the Buc-ee’s property before plunging into a pond.

When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Archer struggling inside the sinking car. In a swift response, officials shattered a window to extract him. However, rather than cooperating, Archer reportedly became aggressive, injuring two officers in the process.

Following the altercation, Archer was evaluated at a nearby hospital. He was later arrested and charged with two counts of felony obstruction of a law enforcement officer due to his combative behavior during the rescue attempt.

After being evaluated at a local hospital, he was taken into custody and charged with two counts of felony obstruction of a law enforcement officer.

Police are investigating this incident. Anyone with information should contact the Glynn County Police Department non-emergency at 912-554-3645 or anonymously via Silent Witness at 912-264-1333.
