DCLM Daily Manna 2 January 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — He Will Do A New Thing
TOPIC: He Will Do A New Thing (DCLM Daily Manna 2 January 2026)
KEY VERSE: Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert – Isaiah 43:19
TEXT: Isaiah 43:14-21 (KJV)
14 Thus saith the Lord, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; For your sake I have sent to Babylon, and have brought down all their nobles, and the Chaldeans, whose cry is in the ships.
15 I am the Lord, your Holy One, the creator of Israel, your King.
16 Thus saith the Lord, which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters;
17 Which bringeth forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power; they shall lie down together, they shall not rise: they are extinct, they are quenched as tow.
18 Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.
19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
20 The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen.
21 This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise.
DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:
During election campaigns, candidates often make enticing promises to win over voters. Unfortunately, some candidates usually forget these promises soon after they take office. But God’s promises are not like the catchy campaign line of politicians. When God declares, “I will do a new thing,” you can be sure He means it—He will do it.
In today’s passage, God urges His people to forget their past struggles and the oppression they faced among other nations. He promises them a new beginning after their unpleasant experiences in the past. God reassures them that their future will be better, and He will set them free to fulfil the original purpose why He created them to glorify Him.
Today, this promise reminds us not to let our past mistakes or hardships define us but to trust God for a better tomorrow. Although we can learn from our past, we should not allow it to keep us from progressing. Whatever challenges or disappointments the previous years have brought, or mistakes we have made, we can trust God’s promise of a new thing in the New Year. However, simply entering a new year does not guarantee change; we need to shift our mindset and be ready to seize new opportunities. We must take God’s promise of a new thing to heart and align our choices and actions with His purpose. For the Israelites in Isaiah’s time, God’s promise of a new thing re-echoed their exodus from Egypt. Though they were delivered from the Egyptian bondage and led to the Promised Land, they were enslaved again by the Babylonians. Now, through the Prophet Isaiah, God assures them of a new beginning. He will defeat Babylon for their sake, carve out a path through the wilderness, provide rivers in the desert to quench their thirst and offer protection from wild animals as they travel back to their land.
In this New Year, God wants us to have a new beginning and experience His love afresh. He offers us deliverance and victory over past sins and failures. However, we must respond in faith and genuine repentance. To experience a new start in the New Year, we must stop all excuses and procrastination, examine ourselves, take steps of faith, refocus on God’s Word and trust in Him.
