Mikayla Matthews has decided to part ways with her signature full lips.
The 25-year-old star of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives recently revealed that she has removed the last traces of her lip filler in a bid to bolster her immune system. On Monday, January 5, Matthews brought her fans along for the journey through a TikTok video, explaining, “I dissolved them a while ago and haven’t gotten any fillers since, but there’s still a little bit here and a tiny bit there.” She gestured towards her cupid’s bow and lower lip.
As she prepared to dissolve the remaining filler, Matthews told her injector, “Every time I get hives, it’s usually on my lips. My lips get really swollen.”
She further explained, “Because of my health and allergies, my lips always become quite swollen. I just want to dissolve whatever’s left so maybe my immune system won’t react so strongly.”
The reality star, who has been open about her struggle with chronic illness, then shared that she got laughing gas before the dissolver went in. “This helps so much.”
The injector then went in with the solvent, which made Matthews’ eyes tear up from the pain. “Never do anything without laughing gas,” she advised her followers while walking out of the office.
She then shared her look “directly after” getting the filler dissolved, showing that her lips were a bit swollen.

Matthews then cut the camera to show the progress “a few hours later.”
“I feel like the swelling has gone down,” she said. “The numbing has worn off so it feels cold,” she described. The next day, Matthews checked back in with her fans and showed the “little bruising” that she was experiencing on her top and bottom lip.
Two days later, Matthews got candid about how “weird” her lips felt without any filler left. “Overall, I love the results. I feel like it looks so good.”
In her final clip, Matthews showed off her fully dissolved pout with only a touch of lip liner and gloss.
“Thanks for coming with me 💅🏼 @Rise Rejuvenation Center is who I trust. I think @traciandreason_np gives me the laughing gas so I spill all the tea🥰☕️,” she captioned the post. Her followers supported her in the comments section.
“Girl… I am loving the embrace of the shorter hair, the filler dissolve, and the candidness of your skin struggles. This is what we need to see more of on social media these days! You’re beautiful 💕,” one gushed. A second commented, “You’re looking amazing 🤩,” while a third wrote, “Oh my gosh! You are Glowing!!!”
In September 2024, Matthews exclusively opened up to Us Weekly about her chronic illness, sharing that she still hadn’t “found any answers.”
“Still doing more testing. I just got a biopsy done yesterday. I’m going to go to a cancer institute and get tested for different blood cancers,” she said. Matthews continued, “I’m a lot better than I was, but I still have my ups and downs, so it’s just frustrating to not get any answers and feel like I’m on my own and then have to navigate being in this really exciting time while not feeling my best. And so that’s kind of been the trickiest.”
