New video of ICE shooting shows Renee Good 'impeding' agents, DHS says

A recently released video by the Department of Homeland Security provides a new perspective on the fatal shooting involving ICE in Minneapolis. The footage, shared on social media, captures Renee Good positioned sideways on the road just moments before she was fatally shot by a federal agent on Wednesday.

Filmed from what seems to be a second-story vantage point on Portland Avenue, the video shows Good’s maroon Honda Pilot parked approximately 100 feet away from where ICE agents were actively engaged in an enforcement operation.

Throughout much of the video, persistent honking can be heard. However, it remains uncertain whether Good was responsible for this noise.

DHS has described this footage as critical evidence, asserting that it demonstrates Good was “STALKING and IMPEDING a law enforcement operation throughout the morning.”

The agency criticized media coverage in a social media post, stating, “The media continues to fail the American people in their reporting on the events in Minneapolis. The evidence speaks for itself. The legacy media has lost the trust of the American people.”

Like the videos that first came out on social media, Good could be seen waving other cars past her.

At least five vehicles being driven by civilians passed her before the gray pickup truck with ICE agents inside rolled up to her and turned on its sirens.

Near the end of the video, the agents could be seen encircling her vehicle as other, on-the-ground angles of the event showed.

The video posted by DHS is the latest instance of the federal government explicitly concluding that Good’s shooting was justified at least part because she was a so-called agitator.

The new video comes after a conservative news outlet, Alpha News, released cellphone footage from the perspective of the agent who shot Good, who was later identified as Jonathan Ross.

The video shows him getting out of his vehicle and approaching Good’s SUV, which was sideways and partially blocking the street.

He then walks around the SUV, and like in the other videos posted to social media, it’s clear that Good initially went in reverse. As the car moves forward, the cellphone camera points up toward the sky as three shots are heard.

Karoline Leavitt, the White House press secretary, said the video proved Good tried to run over the agent.

The FBI is leading the probe into the shooting that President Donald Trump and many members of his administration have deemed justified. They claim Ross was acting in self defense because she allegedly attempted to ram into him.

State and local prosecutors in Minnesota say the FBI is stonewalling them. Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty claimed during a Friday press conference that the FBI has not shared evidence with her office.

The Minneapolis Bureau of Criminal Apprehensions has said it is being barred from the crime scene, is not being given evidence and is not being permitted to conduct interviews.

‘At this time, the BCA is not conducting a use-of-force incident investigation,’ the agency said in a statement on January 9.

‘The BCA remains open to conducting a full investigation of the incident should the US Attorney’s Office and FBI reconsider their approach and express a willingness to resume a joint investigation or to share all evidence and evidentiary reports held by FBI investigators.’

The Department of Justice claimed it stopped cooperating with local detectives after Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said the idea that the ICE agent was defending himself from Good’s vehicle was ‘bull****.’

Frey also made headlines the day of the shooting, when he told ICE to ‘get the f*** out’ of his city.

‘We do not want you here. Your stated reason for being in this city is to create some kind of safety, and you are doing exactly the opposite,’ he said.

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, who has also defended ICE-involved shooting, recently refused to pull back from Minneapolis amid Frey’s demand and large protests in the city over Good’s death.

‘We’ve got thousands of officers there, and I’m not opposed to sending more if necessary to keep people safe,’ she said during a Thursday press briefing in New York City.

Tensions were only further inflamed after two more people were shot on Thursday by US Customs and Border Protection agents during operations in Portland, Oregon.

More than 1,000 ‘ICE Out For Good’ protests are set to take place this weekend to call for ICE to leave cities.

The coalition of groups organizing the protests, including the American Civil Liberties Union and the 50501 protest movement, said the events are a response to the shooting of Good and ‘the months-long pattern of unchecked violence and abuse in marginalized communities across America’.
