A Kentucky father is facing murder charges following the fatal shooting of his 33-year-old son during what authorities describe as a “heated altercation” on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Kentucky State Police, officers responded to a call at a residence where they discovered Jordan Hadley gravely injured. He was quickly transported to TJ Sampson Hospital in Glasgow, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries.
Initial investigations suggest that the incident stemmed from an argument between Jordan Hadley and his 56-year-old father, Phillip Bruce Hadley. During the dispute, Phillip reportedly pulled a handgun from his waistband and fired, fatally wounding his son, as detailed by the authorities.
Phillip Hadley disclosed to police that the confrontation with his son was part of an ongoing dispute, as reported by WBKO. During Tuesday’s escalation, Jordan allegedly shoved his father multiple times, declaring, “This is going to end today.” Phillip claims that, fearing his son was reaching for a gun, he drew his own weapon and fired, despite not actually seeing another firearm.
Authorities have not confirmed whether a second gun was found at the scene.
Court documents say Phillip Hadley’s mother witnessed the murder, which took place in her backyard.
Hadley has been charged with murder and is being held without bond.
