APOPKA, Fla. – Authorities in Apopka have arrested a man accused of igniting a fire inside a shed while still inside the structure.
Richard Snow, aged 43, has been charged with multiple offenses including first-degree arson, assaulting law enforcement officers, battery with a prior conviction, witness tampering, and resisting arrest without violence, as reported by the Apopka Police Department via a social media post on Saturday.
Police were initially called to a residence following reports of a domestic dispute. Allegedly, Snow had pushed a woman and threatened her life should she contact the authorities, according to the post. Upon arrival, officers found Snow in a backyard shed, which had been repurposed as a living area and was shared with another individual.
Snow purportedly ignored orders to exit the shed and is accused of setting it ablaze. Police say he only vacated the structure through a window after the fire had fully engulfed it. Following this, he was taken into custody, the post indicated.
Although there were no severe injuries, nearby residents had to be roused from sleep and evacuated as a precaution due to the fire, police reported.
