Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Michael Anthony Williams, aged 52, currently incarcerated at the Alachua County Jail, faces allegations of making 16 unauthorized phone calls to the victim involved in his domestic battery case.
Williams was initially taken into custody on November 17, 2025, for allegedly inflicting a knife wound on the victim’s neck. He remains detained without bail, pending trial for aggravated battery using a deadly weapon.
On November 18, 2025, during a court appearance before Judge Jonathan Ramsey, Williams received a strict order prohibiting any contact with the victim. Nevertheless, an investigation by the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office claims that Williams contacted the victim 16 times between November 18, 2025, and January 21, 2026.
Reportedly, Williams initiated contact on January 7 by making a third-party call with another inmate’s Personal Identification Number (PIN). After acquiring the victim’s phone number, he allegedly continued to call directly on January 8 using a second inmate’s PIN. In total, Williams is accused of making 16 calls to the victim, utilizing the PINs of two different inmates. Notably, inmates at the Alachua County Jail can make unlimited free phone calls.
Williams has been charged with 16 counts of violating his pre-trial release conditions. (Defendants are typically prohibited from contacting their victims until the case is resolved, whether they are in jail or out on bail; regardless of where the inmate is located, these prohibitions are referred to as “pre-trial release conditions.”)
Judge Jonathan Ramsey added $160,000 to Williams’ bail and ordered the jail to suspend all video/telephone calls except for attorney calls.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
