ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – Recent developments have emerged in the case involving two girls who were arrested last week on charges related to an attempted murder investigation. Altamonte Springs police have disclosed further details, shedding light on the sequence of events.

The incident came to light when an anonymous tip was submitted through the FortifyFL website on January 22 at approximately 11:30 p.m., alerting authorities at Lake Brantley High School to a potential threat. The tip indicated that a student, known only by the name “Jimmy,” was allegedly planning to harm another student, whose name has been withheld.

Following an investigation, police were able to trace the alias “Jimmy” back to Isabelle Aurelia Valdez, a 14-year-old student. The arrest report outlines how law enforcement pieced together the information leading to Valdez’s identification.

The report shows that Valdez and her best friend — identified as Lois Olivios Lippert — were pulled from their classes to speak with law enforcement. Valdez denied knowing anything about the tip, police added.

However, much of the remaining report is redacted, providing little insight into what happened during the interview.

Ultimately, though, Valdez was arrested and now faces charges of attempted murder and possession of a weapon on school property. Meanwhile, Lippert is accused of being an accessory to these crimes.

After their arrests, News 6 spoke with sophomore Madeline Segarra, a student government representative at the same school.

“I just know that there was two girls involved,” student Madeline Segarra told News 6. “One girl had the knife and the note… The other girl was called out of class because her name was mentioned, I guess by the first girl. But yeah, two girls are already counted with the charge.”

Police said a note was found alongside a knife in one of the arrested girls’ bags, though police didn’t provide any details about what the note said.

Regardless, the school district released the following statement after news of the arrests came out:

“We are deeply grateful to the individual whose courageous tip allowed law enforcement to take swift action. The situation was resolved safely thanks to the seamless collaboration between our school and law enforcement partners.”
